This May, a team of ECBC members traveled to Jordan to minister to Syrian refugee children and their families in partnership with the Lodebar Initiative and ECBC global partners. The team, which was led by Don and Lynne King, also included Rick Clanton, Harrison Kravat, and English Preston.
While in Jordan, the team visited a community center that provides education and regular meals for Syrian refugee children. These children, along with their families, suffer from lack of food, shelter, and clothing, as a result of fleeing the Syrian war. Our global partners, along with the Lodebar Initiative, provide regular, ongoing support for these families. This support and care allows for opportunities to meet with entire families and share the gospel on an ongoing basis while doing home visits to deliver food baskets.
Kids Ministry Director English Preston shared that one of her highlights from the trip was the ease with which they could share the gospel during their home visits. “We would open with, 'Why do you send your children to the center. What is special about it?' Without fail, the parents would say, 'The teachers are just so loving and they truly care about my children.' That was our entrance to say, 'We believe they are different and loving because they share God's love with your children. And specifically the love of Jesus. May I tell you a story about Jesus' love?'"
Please continue to pray for the 70+ families who received home visits with gospel presentations during this trip, that they would respond in faith to the gospel of Christ. Also, please pray for the local believers and our global partners who live full time in Jordan, that they would boldly share Christ and not grow weary in doing the Lord’s work.
