Will Perkins joined the East Cooper and Palmetto Christian Academy family three years ago after relocating to the Mount Pleasant area. After spending some time serving on the Sunday morning Production Team, Will decided to join the PCA A/V Club led by Logan Pope, ECBC’s Production Assistant. This club is designed to introduce students to the world of production and provide experience with equipment that may not be available to them in core classes. The students help with Sunday morning services and school events, like chapel and plays. “It gives them the opportunity to learn how to practically use the equipment but also builds them up in the church as they push forward the message of the gospel at church and school events,” Logan explained.
During his senior year, Will had the opportunity to pursue an internship with the East Cooper Production department in partnership with the A/V Club. Logan and Production Manager, Michael Hardee, were excited to welcome Will to the team in a more official capacity. Throughout the week, Will engaged in hands-on production work that helped him sharpen a broad range of technical skills. Whether he was editing Sunday sermons, designing slides for PCA chapel, or troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, each task deepened his understanding of what’s required to deliver a smooth and meaningful service or event. Reflecting on the internship, Will shared, “Michael and Logan were both very patient in guiding me through the tasks. They not only imparted knowledge but also allowed me to gain live experience during performances, chapels, and Sunday services.”
This experience provided Will with an opportunity to gain new skills and serve his church and school, while also shaping his future aspirations. After graduation, Will plans to attend the University of Tennessee to study Mechanical Engineering. As a result of his internship with East Cooper and the many skills he gained, Will decided to also pursue a minor in Information Sciences. Before working with the Production team, he had little interest in the field, but this experience sparked a genuine curiosity and a desire to keep learning and growing in this area. Will is excited to continue growing in the knowledge he gained through this internship and his time at Palmetto Christian Academy.
