A team of five church members traveled to Sheffield, England in July to labor alongside our global partner, Riley. As the chaplain at two local universities, Riley interacts with many students from various cultures and backgrounds. The goal of this trip was to help build relationships with students that Riley could continue to develop throughout the rest of the year. They hosted events and personally invited students to participate in hikes, games, and an American pancake night. After each event, the team offered a Bible study where students could open God’s Word together, ask questions, and hear the gospel explained. 

The team was encouraged to see around 8 students attend each Bible study. One specific highlight for the team was seeing a Muslim student attend the pancake night and stick around for a Bible study. Riley had been praying for this specific woman for nine months and through connecting with the ECBC team and her curiosity about the Bible, she decided to stay and read scripture with the group. “It never ceases to amaze me how something so simple as making pancakes can lead to opening the Bible alongside people who have never opened the Bible before. It was a privilege to partner alongside and witness all the Lord in doing in Sheffield through Riley, his team, and other believers,” Katelyn McCoy, one of the team members, shared. 

Please pray for Riley and his team as they follow up and continue building relationships with the students who attended these events. Pray also for a deep curiosity among students to know more about who Jesus is and how they can pursue a relationship with Him.
