East Cooper partners with Lifeline to facilitate ongoing Families Count Parenting Classes. These classes are a 6-week, biblically-based parent program that is designed to meet the standards for state-approval for court-mandated parent education programs. Our church leads these classes as we seek to meet, mentor, and care for parents who are working to fulfill a court-ordered plan for reunification with their children out of foster care or to intervene with parents whom the court deems at-risk for a court-ordered disruption. We are in need of mentors and we would love for you to consider being a volunteer for this amazing program!
There is no experience necessary to be a mentor and to join the East Cooper Families Count team. We are in need of both male and female mentors. We will provide you with training and will teach you an approved parenting curriculum while engaging the parents through providing transportation, childcare, a weekly family-style meal, and mentoring. Dinner will be provided at the training meeting. Becoming a mentor is a beautiful way to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need in our community. We'd love for you to join us!
The parenting class dates for the semester are February 1-March 15 at Centerpoint Church.
