Student Life Center
This is an exciting moment in the history of East Cooper Baptist and Palmetto Christian Academy!
To continue to grow and provide the resources students need to succeed in their biblical understanding and education requires a significant investment in our future.
We are excited about the impact that the proposed Student Life Center will have on our children, families, and the community as a whole. Over the past couple of years, our church leadership has assessed the needs of our student ministries, especially the growth of Palmetto Christian Academy. They have determined the need to expand the church’s campus to include a Student Life Center.
The new proposed Student Life Center will include gymnasium courts and facilities for physical education classes and auditorium use, including a regulation court with pull-out seating for sporting events. We ask that you please pray for God's blessing on this proposed project and as we seek to equip students to pursue Jesus Christ passionately as they impact the culture.

What is a Student Life Center and how much will is cost?
Over the past couple of years, ECBC & PCA leadership has assessed the needs of our student ministries, especially the growth of Palmetto Christian Academy. They have determined the need to expand the church’s campus to include a Student Life Center. The proposed building is essentially a large rectangle built using engineered pre-fab sections. The total cost of the project is $8 million which includes a contingency to prevent budget overages.
Why do we need another building?
Beginning this fall, PCA’s enrollment will have grown to nearly700 students from Preschool to 12th grade. Furthermore, PCA employs 104 faculty and staff members. This project meets the need for:
• Regulation-size gym for basketball and volleyball tournaments.
• New science labs and tech classrooms that we have no space for now and will expand PCA’s STEM offering.
• New bible classrooms which double as audio visual gathering spaces for expanded middle and high school ministries.
• Locker rooms and bathrooms for PE and sporting events. Currently, visitors change in classrooms and there are no existing showers for students.
• New lunchroom space. Currently, the school rotates lunches throughout the day due to limited space.
• ECBC Student ministries would also greatly benefit from the increased facility space.
How is this project going to be funded and when would it begin?
Currently, PCA has raised a total of $3.2 million in cash and pledges. PCA cash on hand is $1.6 million and $1.6 million in pledges. The proposal for funding and to begin the project is to secure $4 million in cash on hand. Additionally, PCA would secure an additional $4 million in pledges (maximum of 3 years on pledges). ECBC would finance up to $1 million in short and long-term debt during the construction phase with PCA being responsible for all short and long-term debt. Time for construction is projected at 9-12 months from start to finish.
